Public long-term care and home care in Winnipeg

You cannot apply directly to a Winnipeg personal care home. Access runs through the Winnipeg Regional Health Authority's single point of entry: you, a family member or a doctor calls the WRHA Home Care Intake Line (204-788-8330), and a Home Care Coordinator visits at home to assess needs and build a care plan. If 24-hour nursing care is needed, the coordinator starts the long-term care application, or "panel," process. To be eligible, a person must meet Manitoba residency requirements, need 24-hour nursing support, be medically, functionally and behaviourally stable, and consent to the move.
