Senior homes in Airdrie: a local guide
Airdrie has 20 senior homes and retirement homes listed on this page, covering independent living, respite, memory care, nursing care, palliative care and home care. The median starting price across priced Airdrie listings is about $2,294 a month, with independent living suites starting lower and nursing or memory care costing roughly $3,700–$3,900 a month. Because Airdrie is a compact city of newer neighbourhoods, most residences sit within a 10–15 minute drive of each other.
Where senior homes are in Airdrie
Fifteen of the 20 listings map to addresses inside Airdrie city limits; the rest are services that also cover nearby Rocky View County and north Calgary. Three clusters matter most to families:
- Downtown and the 1 Avenue corridor: older, walkable and close to Main Street services — this is where Cedarwood Station by Optima Living (304 1 Ave NW, from $1,952/month) and Fletcher Village sit.
- The east side around Market Boulevard and Kingsview: newer builds near big-box shopping and the QEII, including Airdrie Care Community and The Chateaux at King's Heights. Browse senior homes near Kings Heights and senior homes near Sierra Springs.
- Southwest and west Airdrie: Luxstone Senior Living (2014 Luxstone Blvd SW) and smaller home-based operators in quieter residential streets. See Coopers Crossing and Bayside listings.
Airdrie's newest subdivisions — Reunion, Williamstown, Ravenswood, Windsong and Sagewood — have few purpose-built residences of their own, so families there usually choose a home elsewhere in the city and judge options by driving time from their own address.

Public long-term care and home care in Airdrie
Publicly funded continuing care — home care, designated supportive living and long-term care — starts with an assessment through Alberta's continuing care intake; you can begin by calling Health Link at 8-1-1. Accommodation charges in designated supportive living and long-term care are set by the province, so they are the same whoever operates the building. Alberta has moved these services under Assisted Living Alberta, a new provincial agency created on April 1 and phased in through fall 2025. Private retirement residences are paid for privately, while subsidized seniors lodges in the Airdrie area are run by the Rocky View Foundation, the local housing management body, which added 96 lodge units by converting a former Airdrie hotel. Alberta Health Services also runs an Adult Day Program at the Airdrie Community Health Centre, offering up to six hours of activity and giving family caregivers a break.
Hospitals and getting around
The Airdrie Community Health Centre (604 Main St S) holds the city's only 24-hour urgent care department; Airdrie has no full-service hospital with an emergency department, so complex and emergency cases go to Calgary. Urgent care hours have been cut temporarily in the past when physician coverage fell short, which is worth knowing if you are weighing an evening medical event. The province has announced a new Airdrie health centre with Covenant Health, combining urgent care and birthing with primary, surgical and ambulatory care, reported to open in 2031.
For residents who no longer drive, Airdrie Transit sells a senior (65+) monthly pass at $40.70 for local and Hello-to-Go service, with higher rates on Route 900 and the ICE 901/902 routes. Volunteer Airdrie also runs a low-cost volunteer driver program used heavily for medical appointments.
How to choose a senior home in Airdrie
- Confirm the care level, not the label. Several Airdrie listings are agencies or clubs rather than residences — ask whether you are buying a suite, hourly care, or both.
- Ask what happens as needs rise: can memory care or nursing support be added in place, or does a move follow?
- Check the drive to Calgary hospitals for specialist appointments, and whether staff escort residents or families must.
- Price the full bill: starting rate, care package, medications, laundry, parking and guest meals.
- Visit twice, once at a mealtime and once mid-evening, when staffing is thinnest.
- Start the public assessment early even if you plan to pay privately, so subsidized options stay open.
